We’re changing how we manage recycling and waste

waste picWe are committed to environmental sustainability targets to improve our recycling rates and reduce waste going to landfill. In line with these targets, the process has begun to recontract cleaning and waste services for the Melbourne, Bendigo, and Shepparton Campuses. Other campuses will undergo the same process once their current contracts expire.

In the coming weeks, we will be trialling a custom made Waste Station to help cleaners to better separate waste. This will be located at the back of Glenn College on the Bundoora Campus.

New bin standards will be applied in the next few months, with the possibility of some bin locations changing. The new locations will help us operate more efficiently.

Some locations will require specialist bins, but the general rule for basic waste separation is:

  • Yellow = Recycling
  • Red = Waste

We ask that you try to use the bins properly.

There are always things you could do to help reduce the amount of waste we produce. You could try using a reusable water bottle or cup rather than buying bottled water and getting disposable coffee cups everyday. Avoidance is best, but where we do generate waste, we want to aim to recycle as much as possible.
