La Trobe Abroad (LTA) held their annual Exchange Fairs in Bendigo and Bundoora in March. Both fairs showed growth in student attendance, due to new promotion strategies as well as new venue spaces.
In Bendigo, approximately 60 students registered with the team, though our student volunteers and LTA staff spoke to many more. In Bundoora, LTA registered over 200 student attendees. In addition, nine international University partner guests from each region of the world represented their institutions in Bundoora and seven organisations were represented by domestic staff. Approximately 100 student volunteers assisted the Team with the setup and event logistics. They also spoke with prospective students about their personal experiences overseas.
The Union Hall was set up with the tables and flyers and the LTA team received wonderful feedback from some of our partners including Colleen Packer, Manager, International Learning Programs at the University of Calgary: “I was really impressed with the organization and with the turnout and would definitely welcome any ideas you had for promoting your fair that we might be able to incorporate here in Calgary for ours.”
Zeyneb Akgun, Coordinator (Europe) was the project leader for the events and with the help of the LTA team, once again helped inform La Trobe students about how to ‘Make the World their campus.’
