Safety information for students and staff

Given recent terror events, we want to remind all staff and students to be aware of their personal safety wherever they are, and particularly while travelling abroad.

While travelling overseas on University business, it is recommended that you take the following steps to ensure that you receive up-to-date information and can be contacted in the event of an emergency;

  • register your travels with SMART Traveller
  • check your University email account regularly while travelling. This is important as we may try to contact you while you are travelling
  • if you are visiting another university or institution, make sure you are familiar with their local arrangements for safety and security
  • make note of the Chubb Assistance +61 2 8907 5666 number – this is a 24 hour, 365 days a year emergency referral service. In the event of a medical or similar emergency anywhere in the world simply phone and quote the University Travel Insurance Policy Number 9310 1253

In the case of an immediate emergency on campus where there is immediate danger and police, fire or ambulance is required, call 000. Then call University Security on ext 2222 or 9479 2222 from an outside line (24 hour response).
