La Trobe’s Living Landscapes allows participants to use their artistic talents to help protect a vital native habitat, is coming to our Regional Open Days. This unique experience was inspired by the NGV exhibition by David Hockney, who is arguably one of the world’s most influential living artists.
Experience Living Landscapes at La Trobe’s upcoming regional Open Days:
- Albury Wodonga Campus – Saturday 12 August 2017, 3:00pm to 6:00pm
- Mildura Campus – Wednesday 16 August 2017, 4:00pm to 7:00pm
- Bendigo Campus – Sunday 27 August 2017, 10:00am to 3:00pm
At Open Day you will have the opportunity to create a plant on an iPad using Hockney-style colours and brush strokes. Then by using Augmented Reality you can digitally “plant” your creation amid an evolving virtual forest in a scale replica of the University’s 30-hectare Wildlife Sanctuary.
For each of the virtual plants created, one will be planted in reality at La Trobe’s Wildlife Sanctuary, a vital outdoor laboratory for students, researchers and the community.
We hope to see you there!
