CityStudio is an immersive program developed in Vancouver, Canada, that will take you outside the classroom and into workplaces and the community. In this new subject OED3CSE, you will be based in a CityStudio workspace, where you’ll combine your skills to problem solve and co-create solutions to a key sustainability question, challenge or opportunity facing the community. This is the first time that CityStudio will run outside of North America – don’t miss out on the opportunity to be part of a global network!
Where and when will it take place? What is involved?
This intensive block subject will take place in Bendigo over 4 weeks during the Winter Semester (mid June to mid July 2018) – it is open to students from any campus.
We are looking for committed, innovative and enthusiastic students who are wanting to make change in a community by working on a project to help reimagine the Bendigo Creek as:
‘a world class, green, public space spine, which is widely used and highly valued by the community’
You will work in interdisciplinary groups to co-create a reimagining of the Bendigo Creek. This will be undertaken through activities such as place-based research and community consultation. Projects could range from place-making activities, water-sensitive design, heritage and archaeological research and interpretation, active transport, public art, recreational, tourism and event opportunities – the possibilities are exciting and will have a real impact in the community. Project findings and proposals will be showcased to local Council, community and other partners in an event called the ‘Hubbub’ at the end of the program.
