Ideas & Society: Looking outward – the case for compassion and hope with Tim Costello and Jon Faine

Join us for La Trobe’s first Ideas & Society event for 2018, featuring one of Australia’s best known community leaders, Tim Costello, and renowned broadcaster, Jon Faine, as we discussĀ ‘The Case for Compassion and Hope’.

We live in a time when our region and our world seems burdened by heart-breaking and seemingly insoluble problems, including radical inequality between wealthy and impoverished nations; destitution caused by famine and war; never-ending refugee flows; political acts of ethnic cleansing; and genocide. Tim will recount his experience from his most recent trip to the Bangladesh Rohingya refugee camps, speaking a message that is not one of despair, but one of compassion and hope.
