The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre is seeking expressions of interest for a Category D Lay Member to join their Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (AEEC).
This is a fantastic opportunity for students interested in animal ethics who are able to commit to approximately eight meetings per year, comprising of approximately 4 hours with 6 hours preparation time. Committee members are supported and encouraged to attend seminars and conferences, and out of pocket expenses for travel and parking can be reimbursed. Lunch is also provided at meetings.
To be eligible for this fantastic opportunity, you must:
- Not be employed or otherwise associated with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre
- Have never been involved in the use of animals in scientific or teaching activities, either in your employment or beyond your undergraduate education
- Be viewed by the wider community as bringing a completely independent view to the AEEC, and
- You must not fit the requirements of any other category
